A little bit about me
Hello and welcome, my name is Holly Hamp and I am the proud owner of The Dog Spa! I have been working with dogs for over 4 years and have been a City & Guilds qualified groomer for over a year with a canine first aid certification.
In 2013 I started working with domestic and exotic animal organisations in the UK and abroad, these included work for the UK Wolf Conservation Trust, Junquillal Sea Turtle Conservation and the National Animal Welfare Trust. I discovered it was what I loved most in this world, so I decided to gain my 2 year Level 3 diploma in Animal Care and Management.
I started my career working for a small charity called Stokenchurch Dog Rescue, caring for dogs and helping them find their forever homes was my first passion. I would spend a lot of time grooming previously neglected dogs which often took a lot of time and patience in order to build up their trust and bond with them.
I soon moved on to work with the Dogs Trust for the Dog School division in Huddersfield as a trainer before moving to Harrogate. Since working with these charities I found that my true passion was with grooming so I decided to gain my qualification and set up my own business.
Using the skills I have gained from my work as a dog trainer and the experiences of handling a variety of different dog breeds with behavioural issues, such as fearful or aggressive you can trust that your pet is being cared for by a patient and ethical groomer.
I will always be calm and patient when handling your dog and will never put them under any unnecessary stress just in order to get the ‘perfect groom’. I have a strong ethical standpoint on when enough is enough for your four legged friend if they don’t enjoy grooming, they will let me know and I will take my time and give them a break. That is my groomers promise. I believe in a cage free environment so your dog will only have to wait for you to collect them when their groom is finished in a comfy bed to sit in.
